Non-Fiction Writing

Last week we were working on Non-Fiction writing. I read the kids a short book about Tree Frogs. Then we made a thinking map about what we had learned. (which I totally forgot to take a picture of...oops!)We started with the title page of our books.

Then we created 3 pages for our book. 1. Tree Frogs live in the jungle. 2. Tree Frogs have sticky feet to climb trees. 3. Tree Frogs eat bugs. The kids told me what to write. I wrote it , and they copied.

The kids loved creating these books so much that this week we are working on a new one (Ladybugs). This time they are writing everything on their own.

Moving Again....

So Right before school is out I will be moving classrooms yet again for the third time this year. This move won't be so bad since most of my stuff is still in boxes from the last move around spring break. Organization is one of my "problem areas" So since I will be moving again I plan to do it right this time. So here is what I am thinking...

I want to buy a couple of these babies and those bins that fit into them to store centers in my classroom. I think the children will have easy access to them as well ....anybody have any thoughts on this? Am I making things complicated or should I just stick with those plastic drawers?

I'm back!!!!!

OMG! This year has been nuts! Moving to a new campus after the year started and then getting used to new procedures of the campus. Then I had to move classrooms again right before spring break...yuck. I finally feel like I'm getting back to my normal routine. Sadly the year is about to end but I have a lot of ideas I've been dieing to post so form here on out I will be posting regularly.

I am soooo stress....some advice please!!

This is my third week at my new campus. Things are good but... I am used to writng my own lesson plans and teaching my way. At my new campus there are 4 of us and we each write one subject of lesson plans. So he is my problem... This method is killing me!!!! I tried it out but then I get social studies lesson plans where the kids do the same thing everyday. I write math and apparently my centers can't be something that takes paper. I JUST WANT TO WRITE MY OWN LESSONS!!! What do I do? As long as we are all following the same standards I don't see why it has to be the same exact lesson. Help, I need help...What do I do. :-(

Yay I got Furnature!!!!!

Soo for the last two weeks I have been teaching 20 students with 3 round tables because when they moved me to this new campus they had no furniture for me. I got to order new furniture but it barely arrived today. Ill be going to school on saturday to set it all up but YAY!!! I finally have furnature.


On other nice notes I won the crayola Dream makers Sweepstakes... I guess I do win sometimes!!
